An important context, both for Colombia and for the world, is that of Peace. Also of vital importance is the human relationship with the environment, a project that articulates and initiates a conversation between Colombia and Aotearoa, New Zealand, using technology for Peace and data in Support of the environment. The electronic garden of peace consists of a live plant and five digital plants placed around a pile of stones. Digital plants emit and flash environmental data – light level, temperature, humidity, and the voltage level of the living plant. Inside the stone pile, is a Sonic Well, a laptop/microphone and speaker, which allows for online interaction. During the exhibition, the sound well is used at a specific time to connect and have conversation with the indigenous people of Parihaka in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This place is world famous as a place of peace and has been visited by representatives of the Martin Luther King and Mandela families. Dialogues like this are important for humanity, the environment, academia, and creativity.
