      The Commitment of a Country

Felipe Moreno Salazar & Camilo Aguilera Toro / Colombia

Institutional falsehood on the second Colombian Film Law (1566 of 2012). In 2003, the Colombian government launched a Film Law that created institutions and calls to support the production of feature films, boosting the audiovisual industry in the country. In 2012, it launched a second law, which according to http://locationcolombia.com (official portal of the initiative) allows: Colombia to offer a refund or consideration for films totally or partially shot in Colombia, of 40% of the value of the expenses made for cinematographic services and 20% of the value of the expenses made in cinematographic logistics services (hotels, food and transportation items). Most of the feature films made under this initiative focus on aspects such as violence, drugs, the exoticism of women and the landscape. This short film, in the manner of recovered material films, tries to give a critical sense to the publicity of the law and some feature films made under it.

      royal road

      Fernando Dominguez / Colombia

An old proverb says "The landscape is carried inside", in a materialistic sense this proverb can be reread as "space is a human production". Both geography and art are human doings that have the ability to describe space. Neither of them is limited to the graph of it or to close it to a single way of understanding. This work, called “Camino real”, can be assumed as an exercise in the production of landscapes, or also as a work of artialization (as some geographers would define it), that is, the visual translation of a spatial practice.

      The inter-Code

      Pablo-Martin Cordoba / France

In a synesthetic sound atmosphere, L'inter-code stages the opposition between texts and images in their struggle to codify the real world. The text/image dialectic, theorized by Vilém Flusser in his 1990 essay Towards a Philosophy of Photography, dialogues on the screen with another one that is even less resolved: the balance of tribal society that contrasts with the divergences of modern man. L'inter-code, a video generated with the help of algorithms, however, questions the possibilities and limits of science and its materialization in technology: although both can be very useful for man, they also carry the risk of becoming rare its link with the world that hosts it.

      royal cartography

      Fernando Dominguez / Colombia

Videographic cartography that seeks to create a utopian map on a 1:1 scale of a river segment, from its source to its intersection with a road. The action to carry out this task emerges as a performance for video in which the deserts of Tatacoa and Sonora are intertwined with the Alto del Aguacate in Tierradentro. It is an action that seeks to resonate the memory of the intervened places through the song-scream, in search of an orientation that manages to determine a place in a world of mutant coordinates and allows to have the direct experience of a here and now.

      nomadic geography

      Fernando Dominguez / Colombia

A body that little by little inhabits a space, empties that space in which the different layers of time are projected, reaching the physical and informational void. The technique is the procedure, explored by the artist, called chronography, which consists of revealing layers of time in the same space by recording and projecting the image of the spaces onto themselves. This composition arises from the exploratory process of the artist, in his own department through said procedure.

      Still life

      Yesica Giraldo Gutierrez / Colombia

What can we learn through the observation of nature? According to Maurice Maeterlinck, the plant universe can provide lessons on old age, pain and death. The title Still Life has a duality. First, as a reference with the pictorial composition and the history of art. Second, as an exercise in observation, learning about the plant kingdom, about life.
