La Fundación Instituto de Investigaciones de la Imagen es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro que desde su creación, en 1998, ha apoyado la realización del Festival Internacional de la Imagen y otros proyectos como la Incubadora de Empresas Culturales, LASO Eje Cafetero, Clúster de Industrias y Comunidades Creativas del Eje Cafetero (ClusterLab), entre otros. Lo que ha permitido consolidar labores interdisciplinarias de investigación, extensión y servicios en campos del diseño y la creación audiovisual con el fin de fomentar una comunicación visual democrática, en el marco de la interrelación arte, ciencia y tecnología.

The mission of the Image Research Institute Foundation is to carry out and promote interdisciplinary research, extension and services in the fields of design and audiovisual creation, with the aim of promoting democratic visual communication, within the framework of the interrelation of art, science and technology.

Initiatives that take place in open laboratories and in the context of post-digital practices are presented within the framework of the Festival: Bottom-up visions, low tech, emerging collectives, conceptual hybridizations, transparent technologies and open data.

The Foundation will be a leader in communication programs and processes that link the image with society, will advise people, institutions and the public and private administration in the formulation, application and evaluation of plans, programs and projects aimed at effective visual information , and will design and develop programs, lines and research projects related to image.
