Andrea Montoya Rodas

Colombia

This work is part of the series "Cartografías de agua", the result of a master's degree research that explores the transformation of El Garabato in the midst of the urban growth of Poblado - Comuna 14 in Medellín.

This study focuses on the historical process that led to the urbanization of the area, from its origins as hamlets to its integration into the urban perimeter in the twentieth century. "Cauces" dives into the history of Loma El Garabato, highlighting its importance in the provision of water through self-managed aqueducts before the arrival of urbanization.

The work combines the sound of La Marucha stream, the El Garabato aqueduct and the route of the pipe, capturing both the natural environment and the sounds of water in different contexts, from its natural course to its passage through the pipes and tanks of the aqueduct.

    Resonant paths

    Mauricio Rivera Henao - Colombia

The listening piece Resonant paths is proposed as a reflection on the visual hegemony of the paints of the yajé plant, (images emerging from the ceremony of ayahuasca or yajé). The popularization of paints as a way of recognizing the culture of the plant, is part of the cultural extractivism of which it has been a victim since the eighteenth century, which unbalances the multi-species relationships between human and non-human people involved in it and its environment.

    The inertia of the unstable

    Ricardo de Armas  - Argentina

It is an intriguing concept that explores the paradox of how unstable or chaotic elements can give the illusion of stability, despite their underlying chaotic nature. This phenomenon can lead to unexpected surprises and challenges when sudden changes or collapses occur.
