Realities Research Group (ECA/USP)

Brazil

The Grupo de Investigación Realidades (ECA/USP) since its foundation in 2010, questions how to deal coherently with systems of different formats of imagistic representation. It explores augmented, virtual and mixed realities, simulations and emulations, data visualizations, and Artificial Intelligence, in a broad spectrum, contemplating games, sites, interactive art and installations that challenge and redirect the term reality.

The group seeks to examine and experiment the relationships between scientific knowledge, poetic and philosophical concepts, in different symbolic dimensions, always provoked by the relationship between art and technology and from an aesthetic experience. The research group is accredited by the Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo, where it is based. It is licensed by CNPq (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - Brazil). It is led by Prof. Dra. Silvia Laurentiz .
