“Un diseño al año sí hace daño: diseñar para el mundo real(mente) diverso”

“Un diseño al año sí hace daño: diseñar para el mundo real(mente) diverso”

Juan Sebastián Ospina Álvarez (Brasil) Mesa B – Hibridaciones

The following text, of a reflective nature, uses the provocation "one design a year does hurt", an adaptation of a popular saying widely used in the Colombian Andean region, as a starting point to reflect on the importance of diversifying discourses and visual artifacts related to gender identities and expressions and sexualities, beyond the commemoration of a single date or month throughout the year.

To this end, possible relationships between design, visual culture and social transformations focused on respect for difference will be addressed from the "matrix idea" design for a real world by Victor Papanek (2014) and adjuvant ideas such as the social responsibility of design by Jorge Frascara (2000), the imagined homosexuality by Norberto Chaves (2009) and the humble designer by Charles Bezerra (2011), among others.
