The Doors: Disco Beast (2016)

Disco Beast follows a psychedelic unicorn that wanders through empty commercial spaces, such as an abandoned mall and a luxury hotel lobby. The work refers both to medieval iconography, such as the well-known tapestries of a captive unicorn, and to its appearance in popular culture to build a new mythology about modern confinement by technology and materialism. The unicorn as a symbol of another world at odds with banal corporate spaces in the piece provokes subconscious anxieties around globalization and consumerism.
