TEA XI – Tele Espacios Activos XI
Mario H. Valencia – Oscar «Tata» Ceballos – Oscar Villota – Cesar Arias – Roberto Cuervo – Luisa Alzate – Elizabeth Granados | Colombia
Alejandro Brianza |Argentina
It is an event that explores the creative possibilities of network technologies and remote collaboration. Bringing together artists, researchers and creators from various disciplines and latitudes, TEA seeks to explore new forms of art and communication in the digital era. TEA is possible thanks to the development of various research projects developed over the last 15 years at the Universidad de Caldas and incubated within the DICOVI Research Group.
What has been achieved in TEA?
Throughout its years of development, TEA has highlighted the importance of telepresence and collaborative work in artistic creation.
What does TEA offer this year?
In tune with the spirit of the International Image Festival, TEA 2024 is displaying a series of collective works. These creations, conceived and selected exclusively for this edition, are inspired by paradigmatic electronic works and are nourished by the singular dynamics of distributed encounters, typical of the telematic sphere. The works to be performed for this version of TEA are:
Poème Telemático: Inspired by Edgar Varése's “Poéme électronique”, the work opens with an urban sound collage that incorporates rumors, breaths, bells and percussion. The work explores sound as matter and expression, paying homage to concrete music and spatialization.
Alejandro Brianza - Electronics
Oscar (TATA) Ceballos - Electro-Acoustics
Mario H.Valencia (Professor Universidad de Caldas) - Soundscape, Creative Idea.
Óscar Darío Villota – Semillero(Professor Universidad de Caldas) DI2 – Creación Visual
Futuristic Noises: Inspired by Luigi Russolo's manifesto “The Art of Noise”, the telematic work “Futuristic Noises” immerses the audience in a sonic journey through an urban and industrial landscape. The composition explores an expanded sonic palette that includes field recordings, synthesized sounds and real-time processing, creating unique textures and timbres.
Roberto Cuervo (Professor Universidad de Javeriana) - Analog Synthesis
Mario H.Valencia (Professor Universidad de Caldas) - Analog Synthesis
Oscar (TATA) Ceballos - Soundscape
Luisa Alzate G. (Professor Colegiatura Colombiana) - Visual Creation
Telematic imagined landscape: Inspired by John Cage's “Imaginary Landscape No. 1”, “Telematic Imaginary Landscape” fuses music and AI-generated images in real time. La obra, dividida en cuatro movimientos, explora la relación entre el ser humano y el entorno sonoro y visual en la era digital.
D.A. Restrepo (profesora Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano)
Oscar (TATA) Ceballos - Electro-Acoustics
Mario H.Valencia (Professor Universidad de Caldas) - Generative/ Interactive Visual Creation
Distributed mantra:
Inspired by Stockhausen's “Mantra”, “Mantra Telematic” fuses music and images generated in real time by the interactions of the performers. The work explores the expansion, contraction and transformation of a musical mantra, creating an immersive, multidimensional sound and visual experience.
Mario H.Valencia (Professor Universidad de Caldas) - AI Generative Sound
Cesar A. Arias (Professor Universidad de Caldas) Visual Generative AI
Oscar (TATA) Ceballos – Piano
General Direction, Sound Design & Interactive Creation - Mario H. Valencia G (Professor Universidad de Caldas)
Artistic Direction - Oscar (TATA) Ceballos
General Production - Elizabeth Granados
Visual Direction & Mixing - Óscar Darío Villota (Professor Universidad de Caldas)
Technological Direction - Cesar A. Arias (Professor Universidad de Caldas)
Production Assistant Eduardo Burbano (Semillero DI2)
Design Assistant Santiago Chavarriaga (Semillero DI2)
Beyond the performance:
TEA 2024 will also offer a workshop and a panel discussion to delve deeper into the year's themes: Live performance: exploring the possibilities of real-time performance over the web. Embedded virtual environments: creating immersive virtual spaces that interact with the physical environment. Sound and visual representation: using capture and processing technologies to create multisensory experiences.
