Star Tracks - L'Astrophone is an interactive meditative and musical projection that deals with the exploration of deep space and humanity's search for meaning and transcendence.
Inspired by ancient Greek astronomy, the work consists of a mixture of an ancient mechanical system combined with an algorithm that uses the celestial vault as a musical sheet. For the Greeks, the universe was like a machine that worked according to mechanical principles. Principles that they applied to mathematics, music and life in general. In the same way, today's technology - including algorithms and machine learning - as well as primitive scientific methodology, offers us new tools to search for the meaning of the world and the universe. But we have yet to learn how to take advantage of them. Here, depending on your speed and your sense of rotation, you can find pure musical gems, but also dissonance and chaos.
