Research projects with practical relevance: Art & Technology

Klaus Fruchtnis / France – Colombia

Creative processes and practices are increasingly recognized as research, either for its methodology, for its process, or for its power to contribute ideas and solutions to society on a large scale.

Artist, technologist and researcher, Klaus Fruchtnis, focuses his practice on fostering innovation and creativity through education, and studies the ways in which digital technologies can be used in creative processes. With the advent of digital technologies, a significant change in education is necessary; as well as the study of new genres of artistic expression, and new ways of transmitting information and knowledge.

Today, the notion of creativity has evolved considerably. The creative cognitive view of creativity provides a solid foundation for analyzing the conceptual design process because they use basic cognitive mechanisms to explain how individuals create. The creative process plays an important role within the creative practice, since it allows and enhances the exploration of ideas to improve and evolve creativity, expands knowledge, refines abilities and technical skills. These technologies are inextricably linked to new forms of education, digital technologies, and transdisciplinary skill sets. As a consequence, research in the creative sector in relation to new technologies presents challenges in two areas (1) creativity in traditional environments, and (2) innovation in new learning environments for creative activity and peer-to-collaboration. -peer.

Through practical cases, the artist will talk about research projects with practical relevance as a collaborative experience to solve problems, improvise and experiment with new ways of thinking and learning. The processes that the artist has developed are cohesion, social interaction and civic participation, as they also contribute to cultural projects that include the collective memory of communities in order to value and better understand their heritage and identity.

Klaus will also talk about the academic program that he leads at the Paris College of At, which aims to bring together creative thinkers to develop ideas, create connections, collaborate and communicate, through different areas such as research and creation.
