No place like gnome

Pedro Lacerda / Brazil – UK
No place like gnome is a collaboration between Chilean-Brazilian video artist Pedro Lacerda and Canadian electronic music duo Blond:ish. The film reinterprets the action of lysergic acid in the human body. What seems at first like an apology later ends in a cathartic state in which it becomes difficult to discern aspects of defense or rejection of the drug. A main character will experience the images; He is a young psychoanalysis student who will be used in an experiment involving the use of the substance. As the video becomes more complex and linked to the density of the music, the young man begins to feel confused with what he feels, but cannot express. No place like gnome is not restricted to just documenting the effects of LSD; the use of video as a plastic form is proposed. It is not the narrative that drives the work, but the visual links that are created as each set of images overlaps. What is wanted is for the viewer to feel and enjoy a visual experience that can awaken something beyond our universe dictated by narratives.
