«Carrying the landscape in the body: Analysis of the resistance of the traditional imaginary in the dresses of the indigenous women of Cusco»

Isabel Margarita Santibáñez Cavieres (Chile) Table C – Connectographies

This text refers to the creative process of the pictorial exhibition "Tala",1 which was born from two trips to Cusco. In the first trip, the encounter between indigenous women wearing their traditional costumes and tourists was observed, here the clothing evidences the crossing of two cultures, just as in the time of the Conquest.

In the second trip, we become aware of the decrease in the use of traditional clothing, inferred by the introduction of western culture and technology, so the work makes this loss visible through the visual resources of emptiness, deconstruction and materials.
