“It is a tribute to the memory of the teacher Augusto Rivera, who died 34 years ago. Rivera was exalted by the curator Martha Traba and enjoyed wide recognition along with Obregón, Grau and Negret. Despite having been one of the most important painters of the 20th century in Colombia and Latin America, today his work is not remembered.
The work is an act of resistance against oblivion. It is an audiovisual interpretation, so that the contemporary public, and the new generations, share a provocative reflection of Rivera on the vicissitudes of the creative process in the plastic arts, based on a documentary sound record that seems to warn of the artist's own tragedy. From this perspective, calligrams, pictorial, photographic and cinematographic images projected through smoke and darkness onto domestic elements such as the table, the curtain and the bed are explored, evoking the sudden spirit of the artist, who painted on tablecloths, cloth napkins, canvas, plates and eggshells, facing sober and drunk the adversities and searches of his creation process.“
