Juan Covelli

Juan Covelli

Colombia

He is an artist who works at the intersections between materialities and digital media. He completed the Master in Contemporary Photography: Practices and Philosophies at Central Saint Martins (London). His artistic practice revolves around the plastic and conceptual potentials offered by technological processes such as scanning, modeling, three-dimensional printing, and generative imaging, in order to address themes rooted in colonial histories and memories.

Covelli explores the relationships between technology, cultural heritage, archeology, and digital colonialism. Making use of video, modelling, data processing and coding tools, he creates installation works in the material and digital world that point to new understandings of reality. His work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Warrington Museum & Art Gallery (United Kingdom), and the Guttormsgaard Arkiv Foundation (Norway), among others.
