Founder and Research Director of XS Labs, a design research studio that innovates in the area of electronic textiles and sensitive garments. A core component containing development of enabling methods, materials and technologies – in the form of smooth electronic circuits and composite fibers – and exploration of the expressive potential of lightweight reactive structures. His art and design work has been shown at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in New York, V&A in London, Millennium Museum in Beijing, various SIGGRAPH art galleries, ISEA, Art Directors Club in New York, Australian Museum in Sydney, NTT ICC in Tokyo, and ARS Electronica in Linz (Austria) among others. She is an associate professor of design and computer arts at Concordia University.
The XS Labs, founded in 2002, is a design research studio developing innovative work in the area of electronic textiles and reactive garments. The studio's work is shaped by technologies and techniques of craft practice – weaving, stitching, embroidery, knitting, quilting – and by the fascinating possibilities given by modern materials with electromechanical properties.
