Gabrielle Couillard
Canada
After a bachelor's degree in theater studies at UQAM, Gabrielle Couillard explored a wide variety of live performances, both in terms of production and sound, with a special interest in the conception of rich soundscapes that evoke precious memories of places and feelings. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in research-creation, in which she mixes various technical and artistic tools, such as poetic writing, field recording and the use of complex chains of effects, to build small abstract sound universes, which echo her desires and concerns. Her main interest is the spatialization of sound and immersion, both creatively and technically. Since 2019, she has also been involved in telematic improvisation sessions and creative works, with, among others, collaborators in Colombia (Festival Internacional de la Imagen), Toronto (Exit Points series, created and produced by Michael Palumbo) and Montreal (including the live drone series with Kasey Pocius, which took place weekly over the course of a full year during the pandemic).
