(b. 1983, COL) is an artist and creative technologist known for his work at the convergence of art, philosophy, and technology. His artistic practice delves into the complexities of cognition, perception, and our relationship with the world. Segrera uses the rationality of artificial intelligence to discover the irrationalities inherent in machine learning and cognitive computing systems. Through installations and sculptures, he explores the limitations of human perception and our understanding of reality. Segrera has an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons, The New School in New York, and a BFA in Fine Arts and Audiovisual + Multimedia Production from Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano. He has received prestigious scholarships, including the Fulbright Scholarship, for his research and creation in the arts of new media. As Director of Research and Creation at Chronus Art Center (CAC) Shanghai, he established a laboratory dedicated to exploring and developing new creative technologies. Segrera also shares his experience as a guest lecturer and professor in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence for artists at prestigious institutions such as the China Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and the Shanghai School of Visual Arts. His work has been exhibited around the world at renowned events and festivals, including Open Codes 2 at the ZKM Center for Art and New Media in Karlsruhe, "I am here to learn: On Machinic Interpretations of the World" at Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt, "UNREAL : The Algorithmic Present" at the HEK House of Electronic Arts in Basel, and exhibitions in Shanghai, Paris, Lisbon, Vancouver, Boston, Houston, Austin, and New York, among others.
