Fernanda has completed numerous commissions and solo shows, many incorporating moving images in novel ways. His work has been awarded a Bronson Fellowship, a Flintridge Foundation Fellowship, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ford Family Foundation. Fernanda is a pioneer in the use of outdoor video projections in public art. «Celestial Navigations», projections on a monumental navigation instrument, is located at the SEATAC International Airport. Portland State University's "Intellectual Ecosystem" was selected as the "2011 Americans" for the Arts National Year in Review selection. His video work has been screened at “Rencontres Internationales Sciences et Cinémas”, France; also at the 809 International New Image Art Festival, China; Technarte, Bilbao; EVA, London; Cyberfest, Saint Petersburg; N Minutes, Shanghai; Video Guerrilha, Sao Paolo; Pompidou/Metz; and was part of the National Film Council of India selection in Experimental Media at the Mumbai International Film Festival. Fernanda recently visited the American Academy in Rome to work on "The Method of Loci," an interactive multi-room video installation that combines sculpture, interactive video, and architecture to investigate the intersection of place and memory. One of the rooms of this work, “Pool” was installed at “Currents 2012” Santa Fe. “El Método de Loci” was installed in its entirety at the Art Gym in 2013 and the rooms of the installation will travel to Currents 2014, Santa Faith, and SOMARTS, San Francisco, in the summer of 2014.
