The poetic instant

Gastón Ríos's photographs are silver lightning bolts that illuminate the imagination and show what lies beyond the captured moment, that which is difficult to see unless you have the eyes of a poet and instead of dazzling you, the lightning illuminates you towards eternity that nest in that "decisive moment". 

That "poetic moment" that many seek and only a few find, and, among them, there is no doubt that Gastón Ríos is. In the photos of Gastón Ríos you can smell the street, feel the weight of injustice, savor the passions, laugh out loud or put the world up your sleeves by cutting the sleeves to what they will say.

Showing the interactions of everyday characters with that space of spaces that is the street and capturing that unique moment that inspires a story in each person who later sees the image is the main challenge posed by Gastón Ríos' narrative. A narrative based on those expressive elements that reach their poetic moment in that eternal moment in which light and movement merge with space and time. Thus, captured chance joins forces with the poet's eye so that others feel a similar impulse when they dialogue with photography, when they see beyond what it shows.
