"The Song of the Flies. The repetition of violence" - About the production of the animated film.

The book of poems "El Canto de las Moscas" published in 1998 by the poet María Mercedes Carranza (1945-2003) is one of the central works of contemporary Colombian poetry. Based on the book, the experimental animated film "El Canto de las Moscas" translates the desolation caused by the violence of the Colombian armed conflict through the poetic voice of Carranza and the audiovisual dialogue between 9 Colombian women artists, including Catalina Giraldo, directed by by the animator Ana María Vallejo. There are 24 chapters that go through the morning, afternoon and night, drawing a map of the terror of 24 massacres that took place in the 90's in Colombia. The archive images, the personal memories of the artists and the recurrent use of loops, give life to the landscapes devastated by violence and build a polyphony of memory and mourning, a universal song of pain.
