This project is placed in the context of metaverses, considered as an emerging revolution on the Internet, especially after the announcement of Facebook's transformation to Meta Platforms Inc. in 2021. Metaverses combine technologies such as Extended Reality (XR), Blockchain, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), offering a three-dimensional virtual space for interaction through avatars.

In education, metaverses represent an opportunity to enhance education through immersive experiences in virtual environments. This approach facilitates effective communication and interaction among members of the university community. The study addresses the identification of the necessary characteristics for a metaverse that supports communication and interaction processes in the EISC.

A state-of-the-art analysis of metaverses is presented, including cases such as Somnium Space, Decentraland, Spatial and the metaverse of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHKSZ).
