Priscila Farias is a graphic designer, researcher and professor of design.
Her main interests, both as a designer and as a researcher, are typography, type design, communication and semiotics. His current research projects focus on graphic memory (first typographers in the city of São Paulo and printing workshops, in Latin America visual and print culture), and typographic landscapes (public letters and architectural epigraphs).

She has a BA in Graphic Design (FAAP), an MA and a PhD in Communication and Semiotics (PUC-SP), and was a visiting scholar at Indiana University Bloomington and the University of the Arts London. She is a professor at the University of São Paulo School of Architecture and Urban Studies (FAU USP), where she coordinates the Visual Design Research Laboratory (LabVisual) and supervises undergraduate, master's, and doctoral research students.

She is the editor of Infodesign – Brazilian Magazine of Information Design, member of the editorial board of The Design Journal, Design & Culture, Information Design Journal and Journal of Communication Design, and a reviewer for several other scientific publications and funding bodies for investigation.

She is the author of numerous articles published in journals and conference proceedings; from the book 'Digital Typography: o Impacto das novas tecnologias' (Rio de Janeiro: 2AB), currently in its fourth edition; and the organizer of several volumes, such as 'Advanced Topics in Cognitive Science and Semiotics' (Aachen: Shaker Verlag), and 'Design Frontiers' (Mexico City: Designio).
