The interactive artwork "Distances" virtually brings together people who cannot physically touch each other.
This artwork was born in April 2020 as a response to the Coronavirus crisis that forced us to be isolated and have physical distances from each other.
In this installation, two people in two separate physical spaces are filmed in real time by two devices. They are invited to have contact virtually within the same image by bringing them face to face. The face-to-face proposed by the work's software attempts to constantly reduce the proxemic distance between the two people. The images of their faces, their hands attract each other and create unique ephemeral encounters with each other.
This work of art is participatory in its creative process for the 2 visitors who interact at the same time.
This staging is constantly renewed for the other groups of observing visitors in the exhibition space.
In this creation, we generate reactions and gestures from viewers in response to virtual contacts.
As media artists, Scenocosme: Grégory Lasserre & Anaïs met den Ancxt, explore the capacities of technologies to draw sensitive relationships through specific stagings in which the senses are heightened. Their works arise from possible hybridizations between the living world and technology, whose meeting points incite them to invent sensitive and poetic languages. Their attention is focused on the viewer's body because it is capable of building relationships with others and elements. They focus on the relationships that individuals can have with each other and suggest new possibilities of encounter and relationship.
His works are exhibited in numerous museums, contemporary art centers and digital art festivals around the world.
