Design in the Anthropocene
This conversation seeks to open a dialogue about the current condition of design in the face of the challenges raised by the advent of the Anthropocene. In this context, the question about the role of technology in human evolution and in the transformation of the world arises as a central problem for design, which allows its reconceptualization as a fundamental and even founding human activity, opening ways to think about it. as a shaping force of humanity and the world. This type of reflection is especially relevant at a time when the development achieved by technologies has made it clear that their actions unfold in dimensions and directions that escape human perception, cognition and will. From this discussion framework, the conversation proposes a discussion on the importance of moving from a "human-centered design" to a "planet-centered design" to face the challenges posed by the Anthropocene. This change of perspective on design is key to imagining and projecting a viable future for the survival of human and non-human life on the planet.
