“Claroscuro, ecología socio-técnica de la visibilidad. Relatos de luz/oscuridad en los mapas nocturnos de la tierra”
Amparo Prieto (Chile) Mesa B – Hibridaciones
In the title Claroscuro: ecología socio-técnica de la visibilidad (Chiaroscuro: socio-technical ecology of visibility) are included the terms that articulate the present research based on the intersections between the socio-ecological, socio-technical and aesthetic matrixes around the energetic transitions. For its part, the term Chiaroscuro is the symbolic configuration of aesthetic representation chosen to make this theoretical-experimental research a field of phenomenological exploration based on the light-darkness dialectic.
We conceive the process of the current energy crisis as an ecological imbalance in the energy exchange between living beings and their environment, but also as cultural mediations that, in times of the Capitalocene, overflow political ecology, making it urgent to conceive the aesthetic dimension and contemporary visual studies, very often separated from studies on ecology, as a parameter of sustainability.
Thus, methodologically, we propose an interpretation of the nocturnal maps of the earth, which, as techno-aesthetic products and as images of the world, invite us to interpret the energetic exchange between the social, the ecological and the culturally mediated by the encounter of electric light with territorial darkness.
