She is the Director of Studio SubTela, one of the laboratories of the Textiles and Materiality Research Group of the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology. She works with a team of Visual Arts and Engineering graduate students at Concordia University and a variety of international collaborators. The studio focuses on the development of intelligent fabric structures for the creation of artistic, performative and functional textiles.

Microcontrollers and sensors are combined with natural fabrics to create fabric surfaces that are receptive and responsive to external stimuli. Controllable arrays of light-emitting diodes present changing patterns and text across the fabric structure. Wireless transmission systems have also been developed to support real-time communication, including new research into flexible textile antennas. In both portable systems and site-related installations, textiles are used to address the social dynamics of weaving and human interaction.
