Asher Remy-Toledo

Asher Remy-Toledo is a New York-based cultural producer (born in Colombia) with over two decades of experience in the industry. He is the founder and current director of Hyphen Hub, a New York-based non-profit organization working at the intersection of art and creative technology. The organization creates live events, salons and exhibitions focused on new frontiers of technology, developing a broad global community of selected individuals and institutions at the forefront of emerging art and technologies.
Asher has been part of the curatorial team of the International Image Festival since 2017. In addition, he has been co-curator of the MakerFaire Technology Festival in Rome, an annual festival at the intersection of creative industries and art. Asher was a member of the international and selection jury of the ARS Electronica 2023 festival in Linz, Austria, and of the selection committee of the CIFO-ARS Electronica 2024 partnership, focusing on Latin American artists working in emerging fields.
Asher is a fellow at Culture Hub/La Mama Playhouse in New York, where he serves as a liaison and creative consultant. In collaboration with Culture Hub, he has produced the Visions of the Future (VOF) series. He is a Fellow - Fellowship - Manchester Metropolitan University in England in particular with the School of Digital Arts (SODA) School of Digital Arts, with whom he establishes collaborations with other global organizations and artist residencies. He is also part of the team of counselors at Villa Albertine in New York, which is the cultural services branch of the French Embassy, as well as ongoing partnerships with the Onassis/ONX Foundation and the Elektra Biennial in Montreal.
His past endeavors include co-founding No Longer Empty in 2008, a New York-based non- profit arts organization that occupied empty spaces in the city, creating site-specific installations. NLE focused on the regeneration of abandoned buildings through art projects and the development of educational and training programs. Asher also developed the “No Longer Empty on the Road”; section for the 2010 Liverpool Biennale, creating sound installations in empty warehouses in the city center.
In 2016, he co-founded New York Creative Technology Week (NYCTW), the premier nexus for showcasing digital technology in both the art world and industry. Asher also created and developed the first and second Media Lounge for Art Miami in 2008 and 2009. In addition, he created and directed the Remy Toledo Gallery in New York from 2004 to 2006 and co-founded China's Yuanfen Gallery, the first art gallery and media technology incubator in mainland China.
