Graphic designer by training, graduate and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona, in whose institution she works as a tenured professor of Aesthetics and History and Theory of Design in undergraduate and doctoral studies.
Calvera is an international speaker and author of important research books such as The formation of the thought of William Morris (1992). He has written articles related to the experience of Arts and Crafts, aspects of design theory or on different aspects of the history of graphic design in Spain, published in important magazines in this field. Promoter of the biannual ICDHS congresses dedicated to the history and theory of design, she is currently president of ADP, the Association of Professional Designers, and Vice-president of the Board of Trustees of the Design History Foundation, both based in Barcelona. As a researcher, she is a member of GRACMON UB, the consolidated research group in the History of Contemporary Art and Design.
