Paramedics Collective
John Chaves, Samuel Rojas, Kiran Fernandes & Andrés Moreno / Colombia - Spain - Saudi Arabia
The Paramédicos collective, founded in Bogotá, Colombia; is the result of teamwork and the combination of various disciplines such as engineering, visual arts, design, advertising and audiovisual production. The proposal is inspired by personal experience in the use of cannabis and by research on a method of medicinal consumption. Starting in 2010, an alliance was created between Samuel Rojas, mechanical engineer and Johnny C, plastic artist; to build machines that work as extractors of THC (Active component of marijuana) without producing combustion. The prototypes made by hand with recycled materials arouse the interest of Andrés Moreno, artist and designer; and Kiran Fernández, audiovisual producer. Those who join the group and contribute from their areas of knowledge broaden the meaning of the work, going from the construction of artifacts to the configuration of a video installation with the purpose of disseminating the pieces.
