      SOUTH LAKE

      andres davila

Inspired by the name of a Texas oil town, Sour Lake was the name given by Texaco in the 1960s to a small town recast in the Ecuadorian jungle, known in Spanish as Lago Agrio. This name underlies the framework that the film builds: from the surroundings of this city to the Colombian Andes, where the jungle vegetation merges with the mountains. These geographical locations, interrelated with each other for centuries, are crossed by numerous economic, ecological, political and territorial problems. Portraits in movement integrate a last question about the relationship of these territories with the bodies that inhabit it.

Communalizing participation: Pluriversal co-research and co-design

Friday June 19 at 3:00 pm (UTC -5))

This talk develops a particular approach to participation(s) otherwise, based on a two-fold premise: first, that the imperative of selective de-globalization –clearer now than ever with the Convid-19 crisis–, requires not only the re- localization of productive activities but the re-communalization of social life within a relational perspective; second, that to the extent that design has a role in this process, it needs to be based on equally relational (non-dualist, decolonized) approaches to collaborative knowledge production that contributes to the communitizing group's autonomy. Thus recognized, “participation” becomes a problematizing practice at the interface of design and ontological politics.

Masterclass #2 - Meeting of Talents and Regional Stories
      Wednesday June 17 - 10:00 a.m.

Producing stories under the dynamics of audiovisual language always implies being creative and expanding all dimensions. Therefore, to think about production without creativity would be to deny the existence of planning as a visionary exercise. And, it is the producer of an audiovisual project who integrates and unites, welcomes and embraces, organizes and materializes what is viewed as a film.
