giada cicchetti (b. 1997) is an Italian visual artist whose work resides at
the intersection of film and photography. Through experimental, nonfiction
strategies, she challenges the socio-political context that surrounds her,
combining feminist filmmaking principles and a deep empathic connection
to her subjects. Questioning the role of the filmmaker and the presence of
the camera in non-fiction films, her work moves between her will to be
carried away with her subjects, and the eagerness to transcend the reality
from which her film emerges, to imagine new, radical, possible worlds,
through filmmaking.

‘Le tarantole dormono sotto le pietre’ is her first film that has been
developed throughout her Master’s in visual arts – photography at School
of Arts KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent 2021- 2023.

She has been recipient of the prestigious prize VAF Wildcard 2023 for
FilmLab category and was awarded with the young talent award Roger De
Conynck.

Her work has been shown in festivals and collective exhibitions including
European Media Art Festival 2024 (DE), Festival dei Popoli 2023 (IT),
Format Festival 2023 (UK) , Photo Twens 2022 (BE), Centrale Festival
2022 (IT), Tete Gallery 2021 (DE).
