Dr. Ricardo Dal Farra is a composer, transdisciplinary artist and founding director of the international project Balance-Unbalance. He is also a professor in the Department of Music at Concordia University, Canada and founding director of the Center for Experimentation and Research in Electronic Arts (CEIArtE) at the National University of Tres de Febrero, Argentina.

He has been director of the Hexagram Center for Research-Creation in Media Arts and Technologies of Canada; coordinator of the Multimedia Communication Area of the Ministry of Education of the Nation in Argentina; associate researcher at the Music Technology and Innovation Research Center at De Montfort University in England; senior consultant at the Amauta Center for Art and New Media in Cusco, Peru; coordinator of the international project DOCAM – Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage; and researcher and consultant for UNESCO, France, on media arts issues.

His works of electroacoustic music and electronic art have been presented in more than 40 countries. Recordings of his music appear in 23 international editions, including CDs published by Computer Music Journal and Leonardo Music Journal (MIT Press). Among others, he has received awards and commissions from the International Computer Music Association and the International Biennial of Arts in São Paulo, Brazil.

His main projects include: Understanding Visual Music – UVM; Electronic Arts Education in Latin America; Resonant Body (collective body + 3D sound spatialization); Latin American Electroacoustic Music Collection with The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology; plus Balance-Unbalance (BunB), 'art! x clima' (with the Red Cross Climate Centre) and ECO, the latter dedicated to tackling the global environmental crisis through the encounter between art, science, technology and society.

Dr. Dal Farra is a member of the ISEA International Advisory Committee – IIAC and of the Editorial Board of the Leonardo Journal, a publication of the International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology published by MIT Press. He has been the artistic director of the Mexican biennial of electronic arts Transitio for its 2015 edition and is currently directing the UVM Fulldome Workshop that takes place at the Buenos Aires Planetarium, and preparing the next edition of Balance-Unbalance that will be held at the UK in 2017.
