Mariela Sancari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1976. She has lived and worked in Mexico City since 1997.

His work revolves around identity and memory. It examines the personal relationships linked to memory and the thin and elusive line between memories and fiction.

She has received numerous awards: selected by curator Susan Bright for BJP magazine's 2015 Ones to Watch issue, she was also named one of FotoFest 2014 Discoveries of the Meeting Place. Winner of the VI Yucatan National Visual Arts Biennial 2013 and of the Descubrimientos PHotoEspaña 2014 Award, his work was selected at the XVI Photography Biennial of the Centro de la Imagen and received an Honorable Mention at the XI Monterrey FEMSA Biennial, with his series Moisés. He obtained an Honorable Mention in the 2012 Monterrey National Biennial Artemergent Official Selection with his series El caballo de dos cabezas.

His first book Moses was selected by various curators and specialists such as Sean O'Hagan, Tim Clark, Erik Kessels, Jörg Colberg, Larissa Leclair, Yumi Goto and Colin Pantall as one of the best photobooks of 2015.

In 2011 she was selected to participate in the Contemporary Photography Seminar at the Image Center in Mexico City and in the CASA Visual Arts Diploma in Oaxaca in 2014.

She was the recipient of a CONACULTA scholarship for the FONCA-CONACYT artistic residency program in Buenos Aires in 2013.

He has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Mexico City and abroad in cities such as New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Guatemala City, Sao Paulo, Fort Collins, Houston, Busan (Korea) and Cork (Ireland). ).

His work is part of the Collection of the Institute of Culture of Yucatán, the Center for the Arts of Alcobendas in Spain, the Joaquim Paiva Collection in Rio de Janeiro, the Televisa Foundation and the Image Center in Mexico City. .

Member of the National System of Art Creators FONCA, 2015-2018, she works as a freelance photographer.
